23:25-27
God mocks the false prophets. They prophesied lies, ostensibly in the name of the Lord. They said “I had a dream!” (in a rather different context than we are used to associating this phrase with. But they were lying prophets. Their words were just delusions of their own minds. They may well have sounded credible, and sounded as if they were convinced of the truth of their own rhetoric. Likewise today many of the sin-affirming church leaders may well sound very confident. This does not detract from the fact that they are talking unbiblical rubbish.
23:28,29
God is dismissive of the false prophets and their “dreams”, let them tell their dreams, the figments of their own imaginations. But let the ones who hear the true word of God proclaim it faithfully. For the products of man’s own mind are worthless, they are not based on truth and will ultimately come to nothing. The word of God, on the other hand, is the word of God and it is powerful. For us it means we must stick to the word of the Lord, even if society mocks or directly attacks. To proclaim and live by the word of God is the most sensible way to live.
