15:50
Without the Spirit there is no way of inheriting the kingdom of God. Natural man, of his own devices, cannot find God. People sometimes talk about people seeking God, finding their own path to God. Such talk is just so much nonsense. There is only one way to God, the way that God has chosen. Moreover, this body cannot inherit the kingdom. We need to be raised from the dead. In this way, death is actually a good thing, for it is the doorway to the resurrection life.
15:51
“We shall not all sleep”. This is referring to the fact that some of us will be alive when Jesus returns. Obviously it was not Paul’s generation, it might be our generation, but then again it might not. But no matter, we shall all be changed. Eternal life is no mere continuation of this life, it is so much more than living forever.
15:52
The change will be instantaneous. When Christ returns the dead will be raised, believers who are alive at the time will be transformed in the twinkling of an eye. So whether we die or not before then, we are in for a great experience! Either to be raised from the dead, or to be transformed. The dead will be raised incorruptible, or imperishable. Decay will not be part of the resurrection body. The trumpet sounding is associated with triumph and festivals in the Old Testament.
