4:1-7
We now get a series of miracles performed by Elisha. A woman’s husband had died, and this now presented her with debt problems. Her two boys were in danger of being taken as slaves. Elisha was keen to help. \he asks her what she has in her house, all she can think of is a little olive oil. Elisha tells her to ask her neighbours for jars, lots of them. She was then to pour oil into all the jars. She did this and the oil did not run out. Edlisha told her to then sell the oil and pay off her debts.
4:8-24
A Shunamite woman offered hospitality to Elisha, she then set her house up, so that it would always provide a suitable place for him. She recognised that he was a man of God. Elisha wanted to do something to reward the woman. Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, said that she had no son, so Elisha promised her a son.The woman considered this impossible and thought he was mocking her. However, she did indeed become pregnant and a son was born. However, the son became seriously ill and died. The woman set out to find the man of God.
