21:10
Agabus, another prophet comes to visit them while they stayed in Caesarea. Prophets were an important part of church life, though we are given very little information on what they prophesied. This perhaps counters one of the arguments of cessationists, who seem to want everything a prophet says to be almost of canonical value (ie equivalent to what prophets like Isaiah, Hosea etc said). This is clearly not the case, the words they gave were, at least for the most part, of temporal value only.
21:11
Agabus used drama in his prophecy, giving dramatic effect to the prophecy. We should note that the this in itself does not add any authenticity to the prophecy. Agabus prophesied, speaking on behalf of the Holy Spirit, that Paul would be bound and handed over to the Gentiles in Jerusalem. As we shall see later, this is largely what happened. We also know from earlier verses that Paul expected this sort of thing to happen. So the prophecy would come as no great surprise.
