Christians are often accused of being exclusive, or even, increasingly so, of being bigots. We are accused of being exclusive because we say that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, so the Muslim, the Hindu, the atheist all need to believe in Jesus Christ in order to be saved. Today we are increasingly accused of being bigots because we say homosexual acts are wrong, and because we question trans ideology. The truth is that we are not exclusive and are not bigots, but are utterly inclusive, and consider all human beings to be of immense worth.
We speak to the world about Christ and about God’s ways because we believe that every single human being is made in the image of God, that every single human being can receive eternal life through Jesus Christ. As it says in Romans 3:23,24, we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all can be saved through faith in Christ. So what the gospel says is that I am as much a sinner as you are, whoever you are, I am as undeserving of eternal life as you are. And it goes on to say that I can receive eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ, and that you, whoever, you are, can receive eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
The gospel is utterly inclusive.
